Ocean Co. Partnership

How does this happen?

We’re part of a movement that’s collecting 7 billion ocean-bound plastic bottles by the end of 2025.

Awave partners with Ocean Co. to fund the collection of ocean-bound plastic where it's most urgent. Every hoodie sold contributes to removing plastic from our environment. A percentage of each sale goes towards paying local collectors and supporting the deployment of plastic collection infrastructure in areas that need it the most. Their network of verified collection centers empowers thousands of coastal community collectors to contribute to a cleaner planet. They work with collectors in vulnerable coastal communities to clear rivers and waterways, stoping plastic from entering our oceans. The collected plastic is then recycled, upcycled or co-processed through a fully traceable system.

What is Ocean bound plastic?

Ocean-bound plastic is defined as mismanaged plastic waste that ends up along coastlines and in rivers and waterways within towns, cities and rural areas. When the seasonal rain arrives, this plastic gets flushed into the ocean often because of a lack of recycling infrastructure. So far plastic collection & recycling hasn't kept up with the production of plastic products, which has led to a massive plastic waste crisis. They focus on waterways and rivers to collect plastic before it enters the ocean because it's much more efficient than collecting plastic once it's in the ocean or washed up on beaches. This infrastructure is made possible with help from partners Plastic Bank, Plastics for Change and rePurpose who set up collection sites and ensure transactions to collectors are secure through traceable technology.

Our ultimate goal is to drive greater awareness of the plastic crisis and to stop the problem at source. Join us in our mission to create a more sustainable world, one hoodie at a time.

We Partnered with BCOME

A platform for sustainability and innovation management in the textile and apparel industry, enabling brands to build more responsible supply chains and ensuring transparency for their final customers.

We believe that sustainabiltiy is no longer enough, so we wanted to measure the impact each of our garments have on reversing the damage done to our oceans and planet.

This partnership enables us to show you the value of you choosing to shop sustainably. The equivalences shown in our ReMove Range are figures compared to a garment using a new unsustainable fabric.

rPET is a process of recycyling plastic waste, chipping it to pellets, spun into a yarn and finally into a fabric ready to be crafted into quality garments

We measured the water saving derived from each of our products with the comparison to the most compatible on the market. Our total water saving from our first drop is 45678 litres

Each of our products save Co2, we measure this data and present it in comparison to the amount of months saved from charing a mobile phone
